To register your computer to access ResNet
The Resnet network in the dorms requires you to register your computer's physical address (Ethernet or MAC address) before being granted access online.
- To obtain your computer's physical address' click on the Start menu select All Programs then click on the Accessories folder. Click on Command Prompt. A Command-line window will appear.
- Type ipconfig/all at the command prompt and press Enter.

- Scroll up until you find the section labeled Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection. In the Physical Address section you will find your 12-digit Hardware Ethernet Address. This is also known as a MAC (Media Access Control) Address.
You will need this address to register your computer with UC Davis. Write down your hardware address and type exit to close the command window.
- Go to the Computing Account Services Web site http://accounts.ucdavis.edu in a Web browser. Select Ethernet (NIC) card registration click Begin and follow the instructions.
- Once you have registered your address' you should have a connection in about 15 minutes.

Network Connections > Right click on Local Area Connection > Status > Support Tab - Details > Physical Address
Windows Vista:
Network and Sharing Center > Manage Network Connections > Right click on Local Area Connection > Status > Details > Physical Address
Windows 7:
Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings > Right click on Local Area Connection > Status > Details > Physical Address
