1. Open a web browser and go to:
http://software.ucdavis.edu
Select the Anti-Virus folder on the left hand side and navigate to:
Sophos: Single-Machine. Then scroll
to the bottom of the page and click
Download for Windows version 9.0
2. On the next window that appears, click Single Download
3. If prompted, click
SAVE and save the file.
4. It usually downloads to your 'Downloads' folder.
Right click on the file
and choose
Extract All...
5. Select A Destination - Leave as is and click
Extract
6. Ok, now that the download is extracted, notice two items inside.
First,
open the Text Document 'Sophos_username_and_password_Windows.txt'
7. Just leave that Notepad window OPEN and now click to run the Sophos
installer.
8. Click
Install
9. Click
Next
10. License Agreement - click
I accept and
Next
11. Destination folder - leave as is and click
Next
12. Update source -
Here you must input the Username and Password
from the Text Document. When finished click
Next.
13. Remove third-party security software - leave as is and click
Next.
14. Ready to Install - click
Next
15. Wait several minutes for Sophos to install. When complete, click
Finish.
Problems?
If you are getting errors that Sophos cannot update, please double
check that you have input the Sophos username and password correctly.
To do this,
Right click on the shield and choose '
Open Sophos.'
On the screen that opens, click on
Configure updating and put in the correct Sophos username and password.
This is
NOT your Kerberos username and password, this
is the username and password that was included with the original
download.
If you have deleted the original download that had this
information, go to http://software.ucdavis.edu and download it again.
