Configuring Mac OS X for moobilenetx or resnetx
This article will walk you through setting up your Mac OS X
machine for use on moobilenetx or resnetx. Coverage for moobilenetx can
be seen
HERE. Coverage for
resnetx is currently limited. Please visit the Student
Housing Computing website for more information.
If you are having troubles connecting to moobilenetx or resnetx with an existing AirPort profile please see the Problems? section below
-
Choose moobilenetx from the AirPort drop down. Choose resnetx
instead, if you are a student in an area with resnetx coverage.
-
Fill in your UC Davis loginID and kerberos passphrase.
-
On the Verify Certificate window that opens, choose Show
Certificate.
-
Make sure the box "Always trust" is checked at the top left,
and then click Continue.
-
Certificate Trust Settings - Input your OS X username and
password then click OK. Congrats you are connected!
|
If these settings do not seem to work turning off your airport card and turning it back on may reset your connection. If it does not you will need to remove the moobilenetx / resnetx profiles from your known wireless networks (see below), then connect again. You may need to do this multiple times in order to reestablish your connection. |
How to remove moobilenetx / resnetx
-
In the Network preferences, click on Airport, then Turn Airport Off.
Click on Advanced on the bottom right.
Highlight moobilenetx or resnetx, then remove with the minus button.
Under the 802.1x tab, highlight WPA:moobilenetx or WPA:resnetx and remove with the minus button.
Click Apply.
Finally, Turn Airport ON and close your Network Preferences.
