Configuring Windows Vista for moobilenetx or resnetx
(802.1x Secure Wireless)
This article will walk you through setting up your Windows Vista machine for use on moobilenetx or resnetx. Coverage for moobilenetx can be seen HERE. Coverage for resnetx is currently limited. Please visit the Student Housing Computing website for more information.

Click on 'Connect to a network'

Choose moobilenetx. Choose resnetx instead, if you are a student in an area with resnetx coverage.

Click Enter/select additional log on information

Fill in your UC Davis loginID and kerberos passphrase (Leave the domain box blank.)

A Validate Server Certificate box appears - click OK

Click Enter/select additional log on information (once again)

Click to save this network and start automatically and then hit Close. Congrats you are now connected!
Problems?
If these settings do not seem to work, first change your passphrase.
Your account just needs to go through that process and be refreshed on all systems.
For users on department machines/Non-uConnect Domain machines/non-Administrator accounts
Your credentials stored on your machine may be different than those of your UC Davis LoginID and Passphrase. Windows often stores these credentials in a manner that does not allow you to edit them. If you encounter this problem you will need to contact your department's IT personnel, Exchange admin or computer hardware manager for additional assistance. |
